NEW PROVIDENCE

ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

On Sunday 12th May, 2024, police initiated an investigation into an armed robbery that took place on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway.

Initial reports suggest that around 11:30 p.m., the victim was inside his vehicle at a business establishment when an unknown male confronted him. This individual produced a firearm, robbed the victim of his black 2015 GMC Yukon L/P #LN0457. The culprit left the scene inside the stolen vehicle, followed by a dark-coloured vehicle.

Anyone possessing additional information about this armed robbery is urged to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991. Additionally, anonymous tips are also welcome through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

UPDATE: POLICE MAKING PROGRESS IN RECENT HOMICIDES

Police wish to inform the public that they are making significant progress in the recent homicides that occurred on Quintine Alley and Smith’s Lane.

Again, there is a nexus between the incidents, and before the end of the week, police will provide an update.

TWO ATTEMPTED SUICIDES UNDER INVESTIGATION

In two separate incidents, on Monday, May 13th, 2024, police are investigating an alleged suicide attempt by a juvenile male and an adult female.

The first incident occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. at Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge located off East Bay Street.

Initial reports indicate that a 32-year-old woman attempted to jump from the bridge while holding her 2-year-old female child; however, the courageous intervention of concerned bridge pedestrians prevented the suicidal act until the arrival of police.

The female along with her child were transported to the hospital by EMS personnel for medical attention and evaluation.

The second incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. at a residence situated on Raymond Road, off Claridge Road.

According to reports, upon arrival at the residence, responding officers found a 15-year-old male with multiple lacerations about the body believed to be self-inflicted with the use of a sharp instrument.

He was also transported to the hospital by EMS personnel for further medical attention and evaluation.

Investigations are ongoing into both incidents.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE INVESTIGATE EMERGENCY AIRCRAFT LANDING

Authorities from the Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas are investigating the circumstances surrounding an emergency aircraft landing of a Baron 58 aircraft, which occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Monday, May 13th, 2024.

According to reports, the aircraft was inbound from Florida en route to Treasure Cay, Abaco, when it began to experience engine failure some 25 miles off West End, Grand Bahama.

The pilot and one passenger, both American citizens, were able to land safely at the airstrip at Old Bahama Bay, West End, without injury.

Investigations are ongoing.
