NEW PROVIDENCE
MALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION
On Friday 10th May, 2024, a 29-year-old male was arrested after midnight following the confiscation of an unlicensed firearm containing ammunition.
The incident occurred on Mutton Fish Drive, off Malcolm Road. Preliminary reports indicate that officers from Operation Ceasefire inclusive of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force while conducting mobile patrols, observed a male standing in the vicinity of a bar. Upon noticing the officers, this individual fled, discarding an object in the process, prompting officers to pursue him. He was subsequently caught and a search of the area from which he ran led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, and his arrest.
The Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force will continue investigations.
STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT
Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Thursday 09th May, 2024:
- A charcoal gray Nissan Cube L/P #AH7570 – stolen from Melrose Avenue in Garden Hills #1
- A dark brown 2013 Nissan Note L/P #AY8880 – stolen from Rocky Pine Road off McKinney Drive

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT
Police are investigating the shooting of an adult male that took place on Friday 10th May, 2024, within the area of Kool Acres off Joe Farrington Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 11:00 a.m., the 40-year-old victim was sitting in a vehicle in the vicinity of the “Haitian Village” when an unknown male approached, produced a firearm, and opened fire on him, shooting him multiple times. The culprit fled the area, making good on his escape.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body and was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. He has since received medical attention and is currently in stable condition.
