NEW PROVIDENCE
OPERATION CEASFIRE: FIREARM CONFISCATED, MALE ARRESTED
A 28-year-old male is in police custody after he was arrested by officers from Operation Cease Fire, inclusive of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, on Monday 06th May, 2024, following the confiscation of an unlicensed firearm containing ammunition.
Preliminary reports revealed that around 7:25 p.m., officers acting on information arrived on Ida Street and observed a group of males standing on a vacant lot. Officers searched these individuals and discovered a firearm in the 28-year-old male's possession, leading to his arrest.
The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force Unit will conduct further investigations into this matter.
POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT
An investigation is underway into a shooting incident involving a 26-year-old male that occurred on Monday 06th May, 2024 in the Balfour Avenue area.
According to reports, around 9:40 p.m., the victim and a relative were walking in the vicinity of Balfour Avenue and Ida Street when an unidentified vehicle stopped nearby. It is reported that the occupants of the vehicle opened fire in their direction, prompting them to flee for safety. However, moments later, the 26-year-old male soon realized he had received a gunshot wound to his right arm. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance for medical attention, where his condition is currently stable.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED
Police recovered a burgundy 2013 Nissan Note on Monday 06th May, 2024 on East Street. The vehicle was reportedly stolen on Thursday 04th April, 2024.
The Criminal Investigation Department are continuing investigations into this matter.
LATEST HOMICIDE PROBE BY POLICE
An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a 68-year-old male, whose body was found in the Fox Hill community.
Initial reports indicate that residents in the area allegedly heard gunshots in the early hours of Tuesday May 7th, 2024; however, around 8:30 a.m., authorities received a report regarding an unresponsive adult male found on a distressed property located on Dunkirk Road.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed discovering a male body with multiple gunshot injuries. Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene, examined the victim, and determined that he showed no signs of life.

ADULT FEMALE IS IN POLICE CUSTODY AFTER FETUS IS DISCOVERED
A 24-year-old female is currently detained in police custody at the hospital after a fetus was discovered at a service station in the Southwestern District of New Providence.
According to initial reports, around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday 7th May, 2024 police were alerted to reports of a fetus being discovered in the restroom of the establishment after the adult female utilized the restroom.
Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene, examined the fetus, and determined the fetus to be male between 15 and 20 weeks old; however, the male fetus showed no signs of life.
The female in question presented herself to the hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention. Investigations continue.
