NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM
On Wednesday 01st May, 2024, police from the Southeastern Division confiscated a firearm in Pinewood Gardens around 3:30 p.m.
According to initial reports, officers on mobile patrol near Sequoia Street noticed a group of males exiting an abandoned building. The individuals, upon seeing the police, quickly fled, evading apprehension. The officers conducted a thorough search of the abandoned building, which led to the discovery and confiscation of a firearm.
The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will continue investigations into this discovery.
SIX MEN ARRESTED FOR FIREARM AND DRUG POSSESSION
Police seized an unlicensed firearm and suspected dangerous drugs during two (2) separate incidents on Thursday 02nd May, 2024, resulting in the arrest of six adult males.
In the first incident, around 10:20 a.m., officers from S.W.A.T. and the K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Sanford Drive, leading to the discovery of a quantity of assorted pharmaceutical drugs and suspected marijuana. Officers arrested the lone occupant, a 54-year-old male.
In the second incident five adult males were apprehended by police while in the White Subdivision off Kemp Road following the confiscation of a firearm and a quantity of suspected marijuana. Initial reports confirmed that shortly before 2:00 p.m., a team of police officers from the Drug Enforcement and K-9 Units, while engaged during “Operation Eagle Claw,” encountered five males seated on the perimeter wall of a residence. As a result of their suspicious behavior, officers performed a search of the men and the perimeter wall, which led to the discovery of the items and the subsequent arrest of the men between the ages of 20 and 35.
The estimated weight and street value of the suspected dangerous drugs are currently unknown.
