NEW PROVIDENCE

TWO ADULTS ARRESTED & FIREARM SEIZED Police have taken two (2) individuals into custody on Sunday 07th January, 2024, following the confiscation of a firearm.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers acting on information proceeded to the area of Coptan Close, off Sea Breeze Lane, where they conducted a search of a silver Honda vehicle with two occupants, a male and a female. During the search of the vehicle, officers found a handgun containing ammunition, which led to the arrest of the 30-year-old male and 28-year-old female occupants.

Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF AN ADULT MALE Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult male who was found unresponsive in waters at the eastern end of Potter’s Cay Dock just before noon on Sunday 07th January, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, officers from the Police Harbour Patrol Unit, along with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marine Support Unit, responded and confirmed that an adult male was discovered submerged in the water and unresponsive; they retrieved him from the water and brought him to land.

Emergency medical personnel and the medical doctor examined the body and declared the male deceased.

A post-mortem examination will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations continue.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

ABACO: POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENT Police in Abaco are looking into the circumstances behind a stabbing incident that injured two men from Marsh Harbour, Abaco, ages 32 and 33.

This incident reportedly occurred on Saturday 06th January 2024 around 8:25p.m. at a business establishment situated in Marsh Harbour, Abaco.

Both males were taken to the local clinic where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently discharged.

A 23-year-old male from Murphy Town, Abaco was taken into police custody and is assisting with this investigation.

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF AN ADULT MALE Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old male from Hope Town, Abaco that occurred on Sunday 07th January 2024 around 2:00 a.m.

Preliminary reports revealed that the male, was at a nightclub when he reportedly ingested some unknown tablet and shortly thereafter became unresponsive.

The victim was taken to the Rand Hospital via private vehicle where he was examined by a medical doctor, who found no signs of life and pronounced him dead.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. This matter is under active investigation.

FAMILY ISLANDS

SAN SALVADOR: POLICE CONFISCATE LARGE QUANTITY OF COCAINE Police in San Salvador, seized 1.5.kilograms of suspected cocaine, worth an estimated $30,000.00 on Sunday 07th January, 2024.

Initial reports revealed that around 12: 20 p.m., officers acting on intelligence seized the drugs which was discovered near Fortune Hill Beach.

No arrest was made in connection with this incident. Investigations continue into this matter.

ACKLINS: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS APPREHENDED Police in Acklins along with officials from the Bahamas Department of Immigration are conducting enquiries into the apprehension of twenty-eight (28) illegal immigrants.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday 07th January, 2024 the Haitian nationals illegally entered the island on board a vessel and were apprehended shortly thereafter on the shorelines of Hard Hill Beach.

The Department of Immigration has taken custody of all individuals, which are as followed: seven (7) females inclusive of one (1) juvenile female, and twenty-one (21) males inclusive of one (1) juvenile male. Investigations are ongoing.

NEW PROVIDENCE

MURDER SUSPECT SURRENDERS TO POLICE Police wishes to advise the General Public that Gamaliel Gray has turned himself into police custody at the Bain & Grants Town Urban Renewal Centre accompanied by his attorney on Monday 08th January, 2024. He was subsequently arrested shortly after 2:00 p.m.

TEENAGERS ARRESTED IN FIREARM CONFISCATION Police officers attached to the Fox Hill Division arrested two (2) individuals following a firearm confiscation off Fox Hill Road. Preliminary reports indicate that on Monday 08th January, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., officers acting on information, proceeded to Davis Street. Upon their arrival, a vehicle search was conducted and two (2) firearms containing ammunition were seized. This led to the arrest of two 17-year-old males. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE RECOVER A STOLEN VEHICLE AND ARREST AN ADULT MALE An adult male has been apprehended and a stolen vehicle has been recovered by officers from Operation Cease Fire. Initial reports indicate that on Monday 08th January, 2024, around 1:00 p.m., officers located a gold Nissan Tiida L/P #AQ0686 at a residence on Romer Street, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old male. This vehicle was stolen during an armed robbery incident in December 2023. Investigations are ongoing.
