NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE INVESTIGATE DOUBLE TRAFFIC FATALITY
Police are investigating a fatal crash that has resulted in the deaths of two adult males, a 46-year-old Bahamian male and a Filipino national.
The accident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday 21st April, 2024 on West Bay Street near Kiskadee Drive.
Preliminary reports indicate that upon the arrival of responding officers at the scene, they observed a head-on collision between two (2) vehicles—a silver Nissan March and a white BYD vehicle—in which both drivers appeared unresponsive and had to be extracted from their vehicles utilizing the jaws-of-life.
EMS personnel visited the scene, examined both drivers, and found no vital signs of life.
Investigations are ongoing by the Traffic Division to uncover further details surrounding this accident.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS
GRAND BAHAMA: MAJOR DRUG BUST MADE DURING JOINT OPERATION
A collaborative operation on Grand Bahama including police from the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Bahamas Customs Department, and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine worth more than a million dollars.
According to preliminary reports, around 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, officers acting on information conducted a search of a 20 ft. freight container at the Freeport Container Port, where a large amount of suspected cocaine was discovered. There were no arrests made in relation to this incident,
The suspected cocaine weighed 202.5 pounds with an estimated street value of a $1,200,000.00
Investigations continue.
GRAND BAHAMA: MALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION
Police in Grand Bahama arrested a 23-year-old male following a firearm confiscation on Sunday 21st April, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 1:15 a.m., police responded to alerts from its Shot Spotter technology of gunshots being discharged in the Poinciana Drive area.
Upon the officers’ arrival on Johnny Kemp Crescent, they conducted a search of a male pedestrian, resulting in the discovery of an unlicensed firearm containing ammunition and his arrest.
The Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit will continue investigations into this incident.
GRAND BAHAMA: STOLEN VESSEL ALERT
Police seek the public’s assistance in finding a 30 ft. blue & white haul boat with two (2) Yamaha 250 HP stroke engines that was reportedly stolen from the waters of Dundee Bay canal on Saturday 20th April, 2024.
