NEW PROVIDENCE

FIREARM CONFISCATED BY POLICE

On Thursday 18th April, 2024, Operation Ceasefire officers, inclusive of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated a loaded firearm off Kemp Road.

Initial reports indicate that shortly after midnight, officers, while on St. James Road, observed a male standing near bushes in the vicinity of a church, acting suspiciously, who quickly fled upon seeing them. Despite the officers’ pursuit of the male, he managed to elude them; however, a search of the area led to the discovery of a firearm containing ammunition.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will continue investigations into this incident.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: ARMED SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY

Police in Grand Bahama are questioning two (2) adults, a male and female, in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred on Wednesday 17th April, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:30 p.m., a male was confronted by two (2) unknown males while on a beach located on Midshipman Road. The culprits reportedly robbed the male at gunpoint of his personal belongings before fleeing the scene in a burgundy Japanese vehicle.

Acting on information, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Smith’s Point, where they discovered the victim’s property. This led to the arrests of the two (2) occupants: a 29-year- old male and a 21-year-old female.

Investigations continue.

GRAND BAHAMA: MALES ARRESTED FOLLOWING DRUG SEIZURE

Police in Grand Bahama conducted a joint operation on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, that led to the seizure of suspected dangerous drugs and the arrest of three (3) males.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 7:15 a.m., a team of officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Eleuthera Drive in Hawksbill, confiscating a large quantity of suspected marijuana from the premises and arresting the male occupants aged 57, 38, and 22.

The estimated weight and street value of the suspected drugs are currently unknown.

Investigations continue.

GRAND BAHAMA: ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police in Grand Bahama are searching for a lone male suspect connected with an alleged armed robbery that occurred on Thursday 18th April, 2024.

The police were alerted of the incident around 3:55 a.m., after Shot Spotter technology detected gunshots emanating in the area of Melbourne Crest.

Responding officers, on arrival, received reports that an unidentified male discharged a firearm as he reportedly robbed two occupants in a vehicle of a substantial amount of cash and other personal effects before fleeing into nearby bushes, making good on his escape.

ABACO: ARRESTS MADE FOR FIREARM AND DRUG POSSESSION

Police on the island of Abaco made multiple arrests in separate incidents on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, following the seizure of a firearm and suspected dangerous drugs.

The first incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. at Crocket Drive and Charles Sawyer Boulevard, where officers observed a group of males near a bushy area behaving suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the men and the surrounding area, which led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected marijuana and the subsequent arrest of seven (7) men between the ages of 28 and 52.

In the second incident, around 6:45 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a home on Kemp Road off Crocket Drive, where a firearm containing ammunition was found on the property, resulting in the arrest of the two male occupants, ages 23 and 31.

The final incident occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m., near a business establishment on George Albury Boulevard. Officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of four (4) males behaving suspiciously and the surrounding area, where in nearby bushes, a large quantity of suspected marijuana was confiscated; as a result, the four males, aged between 20 and 51, were arrested.

The estimated weight and street value of the suspected drugs are currently unknown.

Investigations are ongoing into these incidents.
