NEW PROVIDENCE
FIREARM CONFISCATED
On Saturday 13th April, 2024, officers attached to Operation Ceasefire inclusive of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated a firearm off Cordeaux Avenue.
Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers, acting on information, arrived on Charles Vincent Street in the vicinity of a bar; however, as they approached an unknown male, he brandished a firearm, fired at the officers, and fled the scene, discarding the firearm. The culprit was pursued but managed to escape the officers; however, the firearm was recovered.
The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will continue investigations into this matter.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS
GRAND BAHAMA: TRAFFIC FATALITY UNDER INVESTIGATION
Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a traffic accident that has claimed the life of a 56-yearold man and hospitalized two (2) other adults.
The accident occurred on Saturday 13th April, 2024, shortly after midnight, in Eight Mile Rock.
According to reports, a blue Nissan Cube occupied by thee (3) men was traveling east on Bayshore Road when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided into a utility pole.
Both the driver and front seat passenger sustained injuries, while the rear seat passenger, aged 56, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and suffered serious injuries.
All occupants were taken to the hospital by ambulance; however, the rear seat passenger succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter while receiving medical treatment.
The Traffic Division will continue investigations into this incident.
GRAND BAHAMA: FOUND FIREARM
Police in Grand Bahama, acting on information, confiscated a firearm on Friday 12th April, 2024, around 3:50 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that a team of officers arrived on Kings Lake Lane and Hudson Avenue, where they searched a bushy area and found a firearm containing ammunition. No arrests were made in connection with this incident.
Investigations continue.
GRAND BAHAMA: EMERGENCY LANDING NEAR AIRPORT
On Friday 12th April, 2024, police in Grand Bahama were notified shortly before 11:00 a.m. of a plane crash near the West End Airport.
Preliminary reports indicate that an American pilot, operating a white single-engine ‘Piper Arrow’ aircraft along with two (2) adult passengers, were en route to Grand Bahama from Florida when the pilot encountered mechanical issues while attempting to land at the West End Airport.
The pilot successfully executed an emergency landing in a bushy area near the runway, with no reported injuries during the incident.
Investigations are ongoing into this incident.
ABACO: POLICE PROBE LATEST HOMICIDE
An investigation is underway into an early morning shooting incident on the island of Abaco that claimed the life of a 37-year-old male.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday 13th April, 2024, near a business establishment situated in Dundas Town, Abaco.
According to preliminary reports, responding officers proceeded to a local nightspot following reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male inside a blue GMC Sierra truck suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.
It is reported that the victim, along with two (2) passengers, were attempting to leave the establishment when a lone gunman emerged from nearby bushes, approached the driver’s side of the truck, and opened fire, resulting in the victim being shot multiple times.
Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene, examined the victim, and determined that he showed no signs of life.

FAMILY ISLANDS
ELEUTHERA: OPERATION YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS
Police on the island of Eleuthera, in collaboration with the Bahamas Department of Immigration, conducted a joint operation titled “Persistent Pressure “on Friday 12th April, 2024.
The operation specifically targeted prolific offenders, motorists who failed to adhere to traffic laws, and illegal immigrants.
During the operation, officers arrested nine (9) individuals for various offences, including possession of dangerous drugs and immigration purposes. Additionally, officers issued thirty-one (31) traffic citations to motorists for various traffic violations.
Police wish to remind the public that these operations will be ongoing throughout the islands of the Bahamas; hence, the public is encouraged to adhere to all laws governing the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, as ANY violations will lead to individuals being placed before the Magistrate’s Court.
